D38 Career & Innovation Center Finds a Natural Partner in ACCO
ACCO's Monument expansion could bring internships, mentoring and work-based learning to students at D38's Career & Innovation Center.
ACCO's arrival in Monument could create a direct pathway from D38 classrooms into advanced manufacturing, welding, engineering and skilled-trades careers. The company's new fabrication facility offers Lewis-Palmer students something a career center cannot manufacture on its own: direct access to a major local employer.

Proposition NN and what it would actually mean for D38
The state's K-12 ballot measure would send Lewis-Palmer D38 an estimated $241,240 in its first year — about $40 per pupil, and restricted to four specific uses.
Colorado's Proposition NN would let the state keep money it currently refunds under TABOR and spend it on schools. The legislature's own fiscal note puts D38's first-year share at $241,240 — real money, roughly $40 per funded pupil, and it cannot be spent on the things straining D38's budget most.

What the 2026-27 budget actually cuts
The district closed a $2.9 million gap with about 35 fewer positions. Per-pupil revenue went up by two dollars.
D38's adopted budget for 2026-27 is balanced. Getting there took roughly 35 regular positions, two-thirds of them in elementary schools, and a reserve that is now half what it was two years ago.
